E.B.E aka Lucas Rodenbush is an American DJ and Producer, who also produces under Entity and Moonchild. He’s produced an absolute ton of tracks all of which are very deep and groovey house numbers.
Distraught is definitely a deep and groovy number, with it being released on the Plastic City Label that’s no surprise (they specialise in deep groovy proper tech house and are well worth looking at – Terry Lee Brown Junior’s releases in particular are a highlight for me). Distraught starts off with a pumping kick and rolling bass with stabbing synths. This continues but with muted synth chords barely audible above the bass provide a back drop for the stabbing synths to evolve into a more structured note patterns, while every so often an arp comes in behind with a “whoop”ing sound. This is the sort of song that you’d hear late into an all night set to keep the dancefloor moving without ripping up any trees. It’s a really good solid track that will go down a storm without needing any huge drops but, is done on pure musicality.
